Today we will analyze the Invicta 8926ob Pro Diver Automatic, a robust and elegant diving watch inspired by the popular Rolex Submariner, which, however, is far from being a cheap imitation.

It’s easy to see why the 8926ob is one of the most popular watches from the brand: it’s made of stainless steel, equipped with a reliable Japanese movement Seiko NH35A, and it’s very affordable.

When we say affordable, we mean extremely cheap for a watch of this type. You’ll hardly find an automatic diving watch at the price of this Invicta.

✚ Design and Features

The Invicta 8926ob is designed for regular use, making it elegant and stylish while remaining a functional diving watch.

The case has a good size, but with its 40 mm diameter, we could say it’s not an overly large watch and would fit well on practically any man’s wrist.

However, its 13 mm thickness makes it a bit bulky to be used as a dress watch, as it might not easily fit under shirt cuffs. Nevertheless, its casual appearance will make it suitable for any other outfit or occasion.

The dial is not very large, but the black background makes the hour markers and hands stand out and remain legible. It also features a magnified date window.

The entire dial of the Invicta 8926ob is coated with Lume to make it glow in the dark, although users of this watch report that the brightness doesn’t last very long.

The crystal is of mineral type, which is not the best option to prevent scratches, but considering the price of this watch, we can’t expect sapphire crystal.

Finally, the strap is made of stainless steel and has a width of 20 mm, which might be a bit flimsy for the sturdiness typically found in straps of this type, but it serves its purpose well.

✚ What’s the difference between Invicta 8996 and 8926ob?

The difference between the 8996 and the 8926ob is simply the bezel, specifically its edge. Invicta manufactures its Pro Diver with two different bezels: the serrated edge bezel, similar to Rolex, and the smooth edge bezel, similar to Omega.

Internally, they are the same, but the 8996ob features the Old Bezel (OB) with the serrated edge, just like the Submariner.

These images show the difference between both:

✚ Invicta 8926ob vs Rolex Submariner

Obviously, the Invicta 8926ob cannot compete with the Rolex Submariner in any aspect, as it costs several thousand euros less. However, its appearance is very similar, except for some details.

Specifically, the model it imitates, or pays tribute to according to some, is the black-dial Rolex 116610LN.

As you can see in the images, everything in the Invicta watch reminds us of the Submariner, such as the hands, hour markers, crown, and even the date magnifier.

However, the 8926ob stands out due to being adorned with Invicta logos all over. From the dial to the sides and even the movement rotor, it is engraved with the brand’s logo.

✚ Caliber and Operation: Invicta outside, Seiko inside

Internally, the Invicta 8926ob is powered by the Seiko NH35A caliber, a low-cost automatic movement manufactured by Seiko in Japan.

Mechanism in the Invicta 8926ob Pro Diver

The NH35A can be considered one of Seiko’s more basic calibers, so we shouldn’t expect the same precision as their higher-end calibers. However, this doesn’t mean it’s not a good movement.

According to the manufacturer, its precision is around -10~+30 seconds per day, although with proper adjustments (as they usually come from the factory), they can achieve much better accuracy.

It’s also true that with this type of low-range calibers, it’s somewhat of a lottery – some users report precision of +-5 seconds daily, while others report values of +-20 seconds. So it seems that it all depends on your luck.

Setting that aside, the Seiko NH35A is a 24-jewel movement that operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (6 beats per second), offering a power reserve of up to 41 hours.

It may not be the best in the market, but undoubtedly, there are few automatic watches that can be acquired for the price of this Invicta.

✚ Is it a good purchase?

It all depends on the intended use of the watch. If you’re looking for a watch similar to the Submariner to use as a fashionable accessory, paying a fraction of the price of a Rolex, then it’s undoubtedly a good choice.

However, if what you truly need is a professional diving watch, it’s not a good idea to rely on a watch at this price point for deep dives, even if it’s rated for 200 meters of water resistance.

Although the brand markets it as a professional diving watch, no one wants to see their watch filling with water when entering the sea. So, despite sounding ridiculous for a dive watch, it’s better not to submerge it too much to avoid any mishaps.

In any case, our recommendation is to purchase it from stores that offer a good warranty and return policy, such as Amazon. This way, if the watch malfunctions, you can easily return it or exchange it for another one without any issues.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a truly reliable automatic diving watch that’s not excessively expensive, you can always consider renowned Seiko Monster or Orient Mako watches, which are slightly more expensive.
